Writing Guidelines For Erotic Encounters

Erotic Encounters is our erotic fiction department, written solely by our readers. Each month, we choose four fantasies to be published. One of the four will be chosen as Fantasy of the Month.

All published fantasy authors will receive $50. It is the perfect forum for unpublished writers to get their work read.

• This section is devoted to female fantasies and pleasures of the flesh. Be creative, wild, and uninhibited in your writings. Write what turns you on, not what you think turns other people on. All submissions considered must be sexually explorative fantasies that empower, enlighten, and entertain
• Any fantasies that involve pain, degradation, or extreme negativity will not be published
• Fantasies need to be in the first person, and from the female perspective using "I"
• They MUST be typed and be 800-1200 words in length
• Please mark envelopes with "Erotic Encounters." All submissions become property of PLAYGIRL and will not be returned. We regret that not all submissions will be acknowledged.
• All entries MUST include your name, address and telephone number. E-mail is optional.

WRITING GUIDELINES for Freelance Submissions

Playgirl addresses the needs, interests, and desires of women 18 years of age and older. We provide something that no other American women's magazine provides: an uninhibited approach to exploring sexuality and fantasy that empowers, enlightens, and entertains.

We publish feature articles of all sorts: interviews with top celebrities, articles on sex, love, romance and dating, how to features, and erotic fantasies. Playgirl's common editorial thread besides good, lively writing and scrupulous research, is a fresh, open-minded, inquisitive attitude.

Freelancers MUST read a few issues before submitting their article ideas. Query letters with published clips are preferred, but completed, unsolicited manuscripts will be considered. Payment rates vary. All submissions must include a self addressed, stamped envelope, and a telephone number at which you can be contacted.

Freelance writers may contribute to any of the following Playgirl departments:

Features are 1600 - 2500 word (may vary) articles. We ask that you send us outlines and descriptions of projects (with documentation) rather than completed pieces.

Celebrity features are in depth Q&A interviews with today's hottest stars that ask questions that only Playgirl can get away with asking. If you have a professional relationship with a celebrity that you know you can approach; we'd love to hear about it. You MUST supply a transcript and a tape recording of these interviews.

Destinations are 1000 - 1500 word (may vary) articles involving romantic, fun travel destinations that are both singles' and couple-friendly. Stories should have a sexy spin to them.

Delectables are 1000 - 1500 word (may vary) articles that feature food and recipes.

Erotic Encounters features first person, steamy erotic fiction written from a first-person female perspective. Please mark envelopes with "Erotic Encounters." All submissions become Playgirl's property and will not be returned unless a SASE is provided.

PLAYGIRL does not publish poetry, jokes (or short humorous blurbs), or features that do not pertain to women's issues.
